If you’ve never been to a “Test & Tune” night, think of it as an open practice session for race cars. Elko Speedway opens its track to drivers of all skill levels so they can put their vehicles through their paces, experiment with setups, and fine-tune performance before race day. It’s a relaxed, non-competitive environment where the goal isn’t to win, but to learn — whether that’s dialing in the suspension, adjusting tire pressure, or making sure the engine runs just right. Spectators can still enjoy the sound and speed of race cars in action, but the focus is entirely on preparation rather than trophies.
These sessions take place on select Thursday evenings — July 17, July 31, August 14, August 28, and September 11 — from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Elko Speedway (26350 France Ave, Elko, MN). Drivers register online through Pit Pay before hitting the track. The variety of cars, from street stocks to high-powered late models, makes each Test & Tune night a unique experience for anyone curious about the behind-the-scenes work that goes into racing. It’s a great opportunity for drivers to get valuable seat time and for fans to see racing in its raw, unpolished form.
